Interesting question….. Well my favourite subject was always Graphic Products at school but I found I preferred designing and constructing houses rather than designing logos in lessons. After attending a few career talks in engineering, I found that I was interested in civil engineering as it allowed myself to be involved in the building of bridges, roads and skyscrapers ; that in todays society are very important in everyday lifestyles. I also wanted a career where I could physically help improve people lives by developing a more efficient and greener future. Our lives are dependant on infrastructure. An example is the use of public transport, which is reliant on roads and railways etc. ( These wouldn’t be made possible without the help of a Civil Engineer!) Training to become an Civil engineer rather than a graphic designer, was a no brainer for me. I don’t regret taking an apprenticeship within civil Engineering instead of Graphic Design. I find what I do very interesting and beneficial to my future self. Is Graphic design a career choice you would be interested to undertake?
